August 1990 Museum of Geology, Rapid City, SD While heading towards the Black Hills in South Dakota, we happened upon the Museum of Geology at the South Dakota School of Mines and Technology. We didn't think it'd be much, but it's free so we went in.. The kids loved it, because it had a lot about dinosaurs and rocks and minerals. They were into that. There are no facilities available for food and drinks, but I am sure there was a restroom and water fountain. There is a small gift shop. I am sure this museum is expanded a bit since we went. Who knows what is there now. The photos below are not good; they were from many years ago and taken with a cheap 35mm camera and cheap film, so this is the best I could get. It'll give you a general idea what is there though. Left to Right: 1) Badlands exhibit 2) Dinosaur skeleton 3) Large Dinosaur Skeleton 4) Mammoth head/Tusks 5) Rocks and minerals on display.
